Natural History Collection

The Natural History Collection numbers 324 objects that were mostly collected in the 1970s following archaeological field trips led by the Museum's first director, Professor Ante Vuletić. The material of this modest, yet valuable collection comes mainly from different archaeological sites in the Cetinska Krajina Region: Ruduša-Sinj, Glavice, Brnaze, Karakašica, Suhač, Lučane, Zelovo, Krinj, Bajagić, Peruća, Maovice, Vrlika, Gljev, Koljani, Dabar, Bitelić, Obrovac, Jabuka, Ruda, Strmendolac. The Collection is home to 149 examples of fossils, the most common of which are the examples dating from the Middle Triassic (Anisian) 230 million years old. It also contains 151 examples of the commonest minerals and rocks in the Cetinska Krajina Region. The fossilised remains of a mastodon (teeth) discovered at Ruduša in Sinj also represent significant finds
