Since 2004, the Museum of the Cetinska Krajina Region – Sinj has traditionally participated in the implementation of education programmes in the Croatian museums on the occasion of the International Museum Day. In Croatia, the project is organised in collaboration with the Museum Education and Cultural Action Section of the Croatian Museum Association (CMA). The museum education programmes are designed for preschoolers, schoolchildren and secondary school children as well as children with special educational needs. Educational activities are carried out through art workshops and seeing temporary exhibitions under the guidance of museum curators. Our youngest visitors are thus given an opportunity to gain interactive museum experience.
The aim of museum educational activities is to make children and the young more familiar with museums as cultural institutions. Through the visual presentation of museum objects by curators on any given subject, children as the largest group of museum visitors become aware of the importance of their cultural heritage and are enabled to gain interactive museum experience so as to evaluate museums as places which preserve, display, research and scientifically valorise tangible and intangible heritage. The principal objective of museum educational activities is to build, expand and deepen the knowledge of our youngest ones about the cultural heritage of their home, and this is what serve the activities, experiences and methods of cooperation between museums and children.
